It makes for a much more “tactical” and skill-based fight, eliminating any button mashing. This game has you using the right analog stick to do your moves as well. Rather than using the left analog stick to move and the buttons to attack. EA Sports MMA uses a very similar control method.

Rotating SticksĮA struck gold with their Fight Night series and the way that they had you control it all with the analog sticks. Instead, the career mode on offer here is all about the fighting. It is not “story-driven” like many other fighting and sports games were doing at the time. You create your fighter and then you start your journey to become the king of the MMA world. The career mode that is on offer in EA Sports MMA is pretty awesome. Of course, fast-forward just a short while later and EA actually scoops up the rights to the UFC, killing this “franchise” before it even got started. Well, the UFC was mad as hell, president Dana White stating that any fighter who teamed up with EA on this project would not be part of the UFC. UFC was firing on all cylinders and at first, EA wanted nothing to do with the sport, until they realized they could make a ton of money from it of course. When EA Sports MMA it was pretty exciting.
